How to Play a Scratch Project by ID or URL

  1. Open the project on scratch.mit.edu. The ID is the number after /projects/ in the address bar.
  2. Copy the ID or the whole link. On mobile, tap Share, then Copy Link.
  3. Paste it into the box above and press Enter. The project opens in the TurboWarp player.

More detail, including the fix for projects that do not load, is in How to Play a Scratch Project by ID or URL.

What Turbo Scratch Does

Turbo Scratch is a player and a catalog for Scratch projects. Every project page runs the project through TurboWarp, so it starts with the fast player instead of the Scratch site.

  • Play any shared Scratch project from its numeric ID or its URL.
  • Browse a catalog of projects other people already opened here.
  • Read guides about TurboWarp, project IDs, lag, and well-known games.
  • Keep favorites in your browser. No sign-in is needed.

Why TurboWarp Runs Faster

Scratch reads and runs every block one at a time. TurboWarp compiles the scripts to JavaScript first, then runs that code. The compiled code skips most of the interpreter work.

The TurboWarp documentation reports a speed change of 10 to 100 times on heavy projects. In its tests, a 200,000 item quicksort fell from 8.871 seconds in Scratch to 0.0451 seconds, and a raytracer fell from 814 seconds to 15 seconds. Simple projects stay about the same.

TurboWarp also adds a dark mode, 60 FPS and interpolation options, and settings that remove some Scratch limits. Some settings change how a project behaves, so read the guide before you turn them on. Start with What is TurboWarp?
