Modern Sonic Engine
by Enigmatic21
Description
New song added ;) And I managed to remove about 100 in game assets to streamline the project's performance and shorten loading times. You're welcome. I'm also working on a new version of this engine which will be much better. I might even make YT tutorials :) Update: Shadow x Sonic Generations is out, and I highly recommend it, even for non-Sonic gamers. It's awesome. Is the project too laggy? It might be your device. Turbowarp can help though! https://turbowarp.org/805845540 9k blocks | 35 sprites | 741 scripts Hey everyone, it's me, @Enigmatic21 here with an epic new update to the Sonic Reloaded project! Whoohoo! It's been soooo long. This was supposed to be done in December, but I was on a no-tech Christmas vacation and then I didn't use my computer for nearly three months. This is not the finished Sonic Reloaded project, it's an update on the engine and everything you see is subject to change. I am well aware of a couple glitches but I encourage you to report them. Below are instructions, notes, changelog and credits. Instructions: Wondering what keys to use? There is a full accessibility menu and UI for controls, sfx and more when you press the Q key. Not all switches currently work because some abilities have yet to be installed e.g, the spindash. Press the P key to pause, pause menu is currently uncoded. Tips Lagging? Toggle the trail effects in the settings (Q) N key to easily toggle between light and dark modes Controls: Left and right movement keys to control While static, crouch key to crouch While in-motion, crouch key to slide While midair, double tap the crouch key to stomp Jump key to jump/double jump Jump key to perform homing attack on target Specialized moves: While sliding, double tap the crouch key to get a small dash While sliding, crouch key + jump key to roll Boost key to go really fast. While midair, heading right, left + z to get a neat speed swap. Same thing while heading left, but this time right + z. Notes: As you can see, I gave this project new life and an entirely new aesthetic, which think looks awesome. This game's coding is actually jam packed with hacks and fun tricks I had to learn to accomplish the job using SCRATCH of all things. My favorite things about this update are the settings menu, the new animations, and the epic trails for Sonic I worked so hard for. The settings menu is supposed to be proffesional looking and the level of polish on this demo is meant to be top notch, so enjoy. The SFX and VFX took forever. I actually learnt how to pause music, and there is so much going on at once, I doubt you'll be able to fully appreciate it. Maybe drop a star or heart if you enjoy it though! Changelog: Functioning Settings UI Improved Aesthetic in hintrings, messages, thumbnail and displays. Epic customizable trails. Grinding rails! New Sonic, not to mention idle waiting and impatient animations! Spindash is gone (temporarily) Slide is here, and I kept rolling and made it somewhat more true to what it's meant to be. Da loop de loop. A ton of glitch fixes. Look up temporarily removed Background improved (N) Stomp Stomp Dash Slide dash Credit time! @griffpatch for platformer tutorials @ShiftClickLearn for Night Ninja tutorials @Tommicool and @hahasamian for level Sonic 2 expanded team for ring animations Sound effects are taken from various places, credit to @skyset and @piggeh for some. The songs are credited in-game. https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/300586242/ this was a tutorial for sliders which was extrememly helpful. @piggeh for some camera scripts in his Modern Sonic Engine. @llamaguy for some sound effects taken from his cool Sonic Spectacle Demo. Scratch Wiki for some help Sega and Sonic Team @SboyComics helped with the walk animation. I actually ended up mixing my walk animations with his, so he gets 50% credit of the walk animations. Turbowarp @Enigmatic21 me for literally everything else. All of the code is 100% by me, and any code taken from other sources was actually just learnt by me, said sources are mentioned above anyways, but I did not directly copy any code or backpack any sprites. The slider tutorial was helpful but the actual sliders are 100% by me. Any assets taken from this project MUST be credited to @Enigmatic21 or The Sonic Reloaded team.
