I plan to integrate a lot more features, areas, enemies, mechanics etc. upon the full release. If you have any ideas or found any bugs (there will be some), let me know in the comments. Oh and also EPILEPSY WARNING ==================================== ㅤ ㅤㅤ Welcome to Brutal, a Demo of the ㅤㅤmost complex combat system in Scratch My favorite games were always 2D action platformers, and for a long time I wanted to try out making such a game for a while. Now three months after my first ever prototype and after countless hours of hard work, I present to you the most advanced combat of any game on Scratch in this project: Brutal. A minimalist, rogue-like action platformer with extremely intense and fast paced combat. Featuring... - The most complex combat system in the entirety of Scratch, including fully mathematical collisions, multi-frame damage, data loading zones, and list-based data compression. There is no other game that comes close to the complexity and scalability of Brutal. - Fast paced, exciting combat. Brutal utilizes a souls-lite combat system with blood-pumping action and two different advanced enemies with fully telegraphed attacks as well as deflectable bullets. - Juicy, lively action. With sine-wave directional screen-shake, color inversion, and lots of extra extra effects, fighting your way through the dungeons crazy satisfying. - Rogue-like generation. After every death, enjoy a completely different run. Your path is randomly generated each time, ensuring that you never have the same experience twice. - High-level game design tweaks, with plenty of subtle changes including coyote frames, multi-frame attacks, tailored hitboxes, input arrays, and even use of deep human psychology in certain optimizations. - Minimalist style. A wise man once said that you should make a game based on your abilities, and if you can't draw, make a game using only blocks. And man do I suck at drawing. With a basic, plain shapes, Brutal detracts no attention from the carnage you inflict on your enemies. - The largest project I have ever published, with over 12'200 blocks, 150 variables and 20 lists and more than 100 hours of work spread across 60+ incremental version and 3+ months of work. It's more than twice as large as the second biggest project in the competition. ==================================== ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ ㅤㅤ ㅤControls WASD or Arrow keys to move S or Down Arrow to roll. Mouse to attack. You can use 0 and 9 to use the editor. It's not meant for the public, it's made just for me, but you know, you could try it out if you want, it's pretty cool. ==================================== ㅤㅤㅤㅤ ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ Tips Roll, a lot. Rolling allows you to evade every single attack, and is the best method to prevent taking damage. Take advantage of the rally mechanic. Immediately after taking damage, strike an enemy to regain lost health. Play aggressive, don't let injury deter you. Deflect bullets back at enemy. Striking a projectile will reflect it, and piercing multiple enemies with a parried projectile is not only incredibly helpful, but also very satisfying. Be fast. The clock is always ticking.
