Description

Welcome to a basic representation of John Conway's simulation from the 1970s, Conway's Game of Life! Play here for 100x the map size. https://turbowarp.org/1008616759?limitless This game has cells in two states. Alive, or dead. Each cell has eight neighbors that touch it, and each one of those is either alive or dead. This game runs on three rules based on the number of neighbors. 1. If an alive cell has less than two neighbors, it dies due to isolation. 2. If an alive cell has more than three neighbors, it dies due to overpopulation. 3. If an alive cell has exactly two or three neighbors, it remains unchanged. 4. If a dead cell has exactly three neighbors, it turns into a living cell. Based on these rules, hundreds of different reactions can occur! What can you find? Instructions Use WASD, Arrow Keys, or the joystick to move the camera. Press and hold the plus or minus buttons to zoom in and out. Press the pause button in the top right corner to pause the simulation. Press it again to unpause it. Press the arrow button next to the pause button to advance one generation at a time. Press the clear button to reset the board. Press the random button for a random board. Press the cell ON and OFF buttons to go to drawing mode, where you can click and drag to place cells. I recommend pausing before you do that. Drag the slider in the top left to change the number of generations each second. It is NOT RECOMMENDED on Scratch to set that higher than 60. On turbowarp? Do what you want. It goes up to a thousand, so have fun :) Facts! John Conway was a British mathematician. He simply dubbed the game "Life." It was made as a "Zero Player Game." He started the project two years prior, in 1968, to explore different two dimensional cellular automation rules. Credits: John Conway for the original game. Nintendo for their song "Dire Dire Docks" from Super Mario 64. @griffpatch for the joystick. Tags: I'm trying them... #Conway #Simulation #Sim #Game #Life
