Welcome to SUPER MARIO 2D ADVENTURE! A 2D platformer that is an retro reimaging of Super Mario Bros. 3 with a modern twist. This also contains my first custom-built platforming engine; please feel free to give feedback! Since this is a demo, it currently only contains two levels: a traditional linear stage, and an non-linear, explorative stage. CONTROLS **Controls can be configured in the Controls sprite** Basic Controls -WASD/Arrow Keys to Move -Space/X to dash and/or grab objects -Up/W/Z to Jump -Press S/down key to crouch World Map Controls -Use WASD/Arrow Keys to move spaces -Press Space to enter a level Special Moves -Press down in midair to ground pound; jump on impact to perform a Ground Pound Jump -Press Space or X while crouching to perform a Roll -Press the jump key while rolling to perform a Long Jump -Press the jump key while crouching in place to perform a Backflip -Press left/right near a wall while midair to wall slide; press Up/W/Z to wall jump -Press the down key when on a slope to slide -Press the arrow key toward the direction of a pipe to enter it -Underwater: Up/W/Z to swim Power-Up Controls -Fire Flower: Press Space/X to shoot fireballs -Super Leaf: Space to swipe; Up Arrow/W/Z to hover; build up speed to fly GAMEPLAY -The goal is to collect the Power Star within the level; future levels may contain more than one star -Unlike other 2D Mario games, there is no lives system. Instead, it uses the coin system from Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury: dying in a level will result in losing 50 coins that have been collected in the stage -The results of the level are now focused on score; bonus points are awarded/deducted by the number of attempts, time left on the clock, and the amount of coins collected -Each level additionally contains 3 star coins as an extra challenge; try to collect them all! OTHER FEATURES -A new custom scrolling engine with horizontal and vertical movement -A World Map grid system -Linear and Open-World design -Recreation of common Mario NPCs -Sloped Platforms -Coins & Collectibles CREDITS -Original platforming physics engine and other related original code created by myself -Mario Fan Games Galaxy and The Spriters Resource for most of the Sprites and Tilesets -Level maps created through Tiled -Music remixes created by Tater-Tot Tunes, Bulby, and other related cover artists -Music and sound effects from The Sound Resource, Super Mario Maker 2, and YouTube -Logo created by myself based on the original SMB3 logo font-type -Off-screen costume and background system inspired by @ToadfanSchool and @BenjaminWins11 -@Brad-Games for holding another Mario contest and his years of awesome content; keep up the great work! -The NES fangame SMB3Mix for the UI design and inspiration for this project -Nintendo for ownership of the Mario franchise And, of course, you for playing!
