Description

This project is outdated. Latest version of the 2D Minecraft: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/936299048/ I have revived this version of 2D Minecraft and updated the lighting engine to now utilise a light map to enable smoother lighting without performance issues. This is a very similar algorithm to one I designed in python for a large tile scrolling Terraria / Minecraft pygame project. Probably best played here, and also if using Google Chrome: https://turbowarp.org/514278640/ Credit to C418 for the music. This is not Paper Minecraft but a game made with a very different engine which I have created. 21w13a Most of backend ported from the Advanced Tile Scrolling 2D Minecraft Game Engine. Will need some adjustment in order to get it to function more smoothly, it so far has only had a few hours of time spent on it. 21w13b: +Inventory now looks more like Minecraft. +Breaking blocks adds to the Inventory, and placing them removes them. +Breaking and placing blocks produces sound * +Minecraft Music +Engine performance optimisations 0.0.0 +Menu screen 21w14a: Added Experimental List based collisions, based sort of off Griffpatch's tile scrolling platformer, but my own take on it. Only exists for to allow player entity consistency. I will try to speed up the performance of this. Nullifies need to hide tiles, can now simplify tile scripts to save performance. 21w14b: +Internal Entity Engine Test 21w14c: Added Zombies Added Pigs 0.2.0 +A first attempt at light postitioning and proper shaders. +Infinite Bugs 0.3.0: -Removed most of the bugs. +World save and loading system 0.3.1 - +Revamped lighting. -Removed future features to speed up performance. 0.7.0 - Lighting overhaul I have never designed better lighting in a tile scrolling game then i have here, and this also opens the door to torches etc. Note that diagonal lighting, for the first time ever, is no longer broken. Utilises a light map to boost performance. 0.7.1 Minor bug fixes Movement now uses WASD F and V controls switched with mouse pointer 0.8.0 - Final increased jump height Game now uses a stamp based Tile Camera, similar to 2D Minecraft 1.0 Beta. This will allow many, many more entities to spawn at the same time and reduce issues with the clone limit.
