Space Trading Game v1.7.0 Finished
by KittycraftO
Description
turbowarp by Kittycraft0 (so I can look this up on google) This is a space themed scrolling game that has planets that have gravity. To save your progress, if you really want to, you should make an account if you didn't already, and remix the project and save by moving some random piece of the code, if it was part of something large or whatever, you can always do ctrl+z or right click and press undo to revert it, and then press save in the top right, after remixing the project of course. Feel free to play with the physics of the game, as they can be sometime fun. You can change some of the values in the lists and such, to mess with the planets and how they behave with the player Story of the inspiration of the game I was inspired to make this one time when I was bored and had an idea to make a game with gravity planets in a scrolling map. I also took interest in the trading aspects of some space games. For two examples, the game Galaxy on Roblox, and the game Space trader. I decided to put that in the game. And thus, You can trade now! You can see different versions (the higher the version, the more stuff it has, as it was made later, and version means update in this scenario) on my profile page. Changes: - Officially declared as done, as this is 2 days before I start school, (today is 9/1/2020) and I am quite happy with what this game has become. Never mind sound, I never add that to my projects. Although, maybe tomorow, maybe a week or month or even year from now, I might add something new, such as changing prices, refilled stock, different ships with different cargo limits and a way to buy/build them, asteroids and a way to mine them, setting the background to a much larger singular sprite so that it doesn't intrude on the clone limit, other ships that also mines asteroids, pirates that try to kill you, lazor beams (how to spell "lazor" correctly?), a way to die, colliding with planets killing you, pirates trying to kill other miners, the ability to defend yourself, you able to be a pirate, other miners fleeing you, either when you start attacking you or when they see you, pirates and miners dropping loot when they are destroyed, missions, a way to win the game (maybe), adding a global leaderboard via cloud variables (kind of confusing, how to send usernames or words over the cloud? how does it even work?!?), cloud saving the game (I don't know even the faintest idea on how this would work), making the game multiplayer (this is an even more confusing concept to me), moving the whole game onto something less restrictive like Java or something (when writing this I don't know how to code in Java... It can't be that hard... Right?) making the game 3D (you see it all the time in Java or anything else, but never here on scratch, so it must be a whole lot easier on Java, not due to the lack of actual grown ups using scratch and instead using other things, but because of the innability to actually even make anything 3D in scratch, right?), become a very popular space game, succeed at life, retire as an actually not rich person, because by the time I'm old enough to do that, everybody will probably know easily off the top of their heads how to make this sort of "simple" game. - What does "Officially" mean anyways in this sort of context? I think that it is wrong, maybe, because there's most likely nobody to be official too. Anyways that was the change log have a good day and heart favorite remix and share this project, also try playing it and understanding it before giving up on it
Instructions
This is a scrolling space trading game with planets that have gravity. How to start the game: Press the green flag, recommended that you press "Start" instead of "Start with Slow Loading" Resetting progress: Ff you want to have unique trading things, then you can press the "Reset Progress" button before you start the game. There is a timer on the notification that pops up so that you don't accidentally do this. After you press the "Reset All Progress" button after the 5 second timer ends, you can start the game with reset progress. Controls: W/Up - Move the direction your facing in AD/Left Right - Turns the direction your facing in X - Toggle Speed Dampeners C - Look at cargo statistics E - Open trade menu when docked at a planets docking area There is a minimap in the bottom right, you are the red dot, and to the left of the minimap Trading: Trading is kind of complicated, but here is how it works anyways. Below are the sections that you should read, giving the process of finding a planet, docking, exchanging resources and money, and the details on how to earn money. First of all, you need to start the game first. If you don't know how to click on the "Start" button, then I can't help you. Sorry. Finding a planet Trading happens at planets. There are, when writing this, 5 planets in the game. Yes, I am counting the sun and the space station. They all work the same. On the minimap on the bottom right corner, it shows you, as a red dot, and all of the planets, as icons that are different, but all of them are not red dots. Point your ship at one of the planets (A/D, or left and right arrows), and hold the forwards button (W or Up Arrow). Preferably the closest one. When the red dot gets close, release W and turn on the speed dampeners (X) until you slow down. If you missed the planet, turn off the speed dampeners (X) and repeat the steps until you either miss the planet again, or until you can see the planet, as of which you can go on to the next part, which is below. Docking To trade, you need to dock at a planet first. Every planet has a docking area. (a green square or circle with black text on it, look below this section to see where it is for every planet, or you can find it yourself, if you find that sort of thing fun) You dock by turning on your speed dampeners (X) and finding/going to the docking area for the planet. You then slow down until your speed is below 1, If you don't see anything happen, try to center yourself in the docking area, as the docking area isn't ever a square, and usually isn't a circle. If you do it right, you should be able to see white text pop up from the middle, saying "E - Trade". This is telling you that pressing E will open the trade menu. Once you press E, move on to the next section. Docking ports of all planets: Removed, as the description was too long Trading: Once you pressed E after being docked at a docking area, a buying and selling resources screen pops up from the center. To start with, you only have 10 Money. If the price of Silicon is 10 or above, go look at a different planets trades. If all of them are above ten, restart the game by pressing the green flag and then resetting the game. If the price of silicon at the planet that you are at is below 10, click the green 1 button on the same row as the silicon. You should see that your money dropped by the price that it said plus 1, as their is a tax on the purchases, so that you cant trade for like 1 or 2 price difference between planets. Exiting planets and some of their gravity wells Once you did that, exit the trading screen by simply moving your ship. If you cant easily exit the planet, as it is the sun, the moon, and a little bit mars, do one of these two things: 1. Turn on the speed dampeners and go out of the planets gravity well, although this very slow. 2. Gain enough momentum to leave the gravity well by either going to one side of the planet and going full speed to the other side, or, as you can't do this with the moon, go around and around the planet, turning your ship in the process, to gain enough speed to leave the planet. Selling the materials After you left the planet, try going to other planets until you find a planet with a higher difference than 2 in their price, and sell the 1 silicon to that planet by pressing the red 1 button on the same row as the silicon. There is also a 1 money tax on selling, just as their is buying. Return to the planet you bought the silicon from, or any planet with a lower price than what you had initially bought it for, and buy maybe even more silicon. Winning the game Repeat this process until you deplete the cheaper silicon planet's supply, or until you get enough money to buy some carbon. You can eventually deplete all the planets supply, if you play long enough, as their currently, as of writing this, is no winning conditions The tittle of this section is not exactly correct, but what else would you expect at the bottom of the instructions?
