Description

GETAWAY began as a concept of cops and robbers. I was watching high speed chases on YouTube one afternoon, and the adrenaline was jarring, even as a spectator. I thought, 'how cool would it be to be behind the wheel, chasing a burglar on the freeway, surpassing speeds of up to 60MPH, in a high performance police interceptor!' As the idea developed, the game went through quite a few changes. The most obvious being that you play the robber, not the cop. I decided to split it up into two separate games. One would have you as the fugitive, and the other, as the cop. The cop version has not yet been released, but will be featured as GETAWAY II. It took me about five, six days to program. I spent around four or five hours a day on it. Some times as long as seven. I'm still not even satisfied with the finished version, but my main goal was to make the game fun, yet challenging. Enjoy.

Instructions

Press SPACE to start. ____________________________________________________ YOU ARE ON THE RUN--- WITH A $25,000,000 FORTUNE. A few tips that could come in useful is to always dip and dodge. Never stay in one straight line too long, and I usually prefer to collect ammo over health when it's only possible to grab one and not both. You also have your power ups, but I normally reserve them for, at least, stage 3. Hitting the cargo boxes take away a substantial amount, so always steer very clear of them. Another thing is leaving the road. Traveling off road substantially reduces your speed, and colliding with any of the the law enforcement vehicles is an automatic mission fail. Reserve ammo when you can; do not fire randomly and crazily. It will deplete your ammo supply and you'll find yourself being attacked from all angles, but unable to fire back. FOR DESKTOP USERS: The game was designed with the lap top user in mind, so the controls may be awkward for those with traditional computers. In which case, switch the mouse to the left hand, and use your right hand for the directional controls.
