POPPY PLAYTIME CHAPTER 5 SPOILERS (scroll down) Poppy Playtime Chapter 5 was a very polarizing game, but one thing I absolutely loved about the game was the addition of Lily Lovebraids, possibly one of my favorite characters in all of media. One thing to immediately understand is that Miss Gracie and Lily despite sharing the same mind are completely separate people. Miss Gracie was an evil woman, being a director in brainwashing all the children partaking in the bigger body initiatives making them believe they wanted to be toys. During the hour of joy, all the children she brainwashed fought back, and dismembered her body, only to bring her back to life by putting her in a bigger body without a host, Lily Lovebraids. They starved Miss Gracie and forced her to watch her own brainwashing tapes. However, they tortured her for 400 consecutive days, longer than the human mind can handle, causing her mind to split in two, one being Lily Lovebraids and the other being Miss Gracie. As time went on, the Miss Gracie personality essentially died, making Lily Lovebraids the only to remain. Unlike the other bigger bodies, Lily didn’t know she was once human. She didn’t know what her past life was like. She was an entirely new person. Despite that, she was still punished for the actions of Miss Gracie. She was kept isolated and starved inside the dollhouse for a decade, causing Lily to break. And the worst part is… Lily is essentially a child, just like how all the toys in the playtime factory are. She plays with dolls and has parties, she dresses like how a child was, and all the games she plays with you are what a child would do. It’s absolutely heartbreaking to see her treated like this throughout the game when she did nothing wrong, and sadly death was probably the best ending she could’ve gotten as it ended her suffering. Her role in the story isn’t random, and is more so meant to be a way to show the hypocrisy of the prototype, showing how evil and cruel he is just like the playtime workers. Truly an amazing character, and Ao3 is the only thing that will heal me from her death.
